I Don’t Believe

So you don’t believe in Jesus? We’ve got a lot to tell you, and we will, but first, we’ve got to say all of it came from the Bible. There are so many apps you can download to read about it. If you haven’t ever read the Bible, we suggest the NIV or NASB versions as they may be more helpful in understanding. We can throw a lot of words at you, but nothing is better than reading it for yourself.

So pick up a bible and let’s talk about Jesus

Something got you here, curiosity? The guidance of the Holy Spirit? You may not be sure, but we’re glad you’re here. It’s ok to not know. It’s ok to have doubts. It’s ok to ask questions. Doubts and Questions are a part of life, so let’s start at the beginning.

God created the world

However you’re reading your Bible, it’ll help you get there. Go read Genesis Chapter 1, then go ahead and read Genesis Chapter 2 to find out how God made man.
You don’t have to believe it, just read it. Open your mind to approach it with the thought that God can do literally anything, even if you don’t believe it.

God gave us a choice

Now read about how sin entered the world in Genesis Chapter 3. The new people God had created were lied to and chose to disobey God. This condemned us to eternal separation from God, and eternal suffering.

But God wasn’t done

I know you’re skipping far ahead, but we need you to find John chapter 3 verse 16. The Bible is a book about God. From beginning to end, it tells us about God. He wrote prophesies found throughout the Old Testament about how we would send a savior…

No one expected what they Got.

The books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John tell us about the life of Jesus, who came to earth as a baby as I’m sure you’ve heard at Christmas-time at some point in your life.
That baby was fully man and fully God. He was a man who could not sin.

Think about not having the weight of ever having done anything wrong. We can’t imagine it, but Jesus had one purpose. To defeat death and pay the punishment that we incurred when we sinned. Now go to Romans chapter 3 verses 10-12 (Rom. 3:10-12). and the Romans 3:23. We all sin, so we all deserve death. We can’t save ourselves.

So Jesus did it for us

Jesus loved us so much that he chose to take on a weight he had never known. The spiritual weight of sin. Disobedience toward God. He also took on the most horrific, painful way that the Romans had to kill a person.

He did is because of LOVE

Would anyone do that for you? Take on your burdens, your suffering. See your hatred of them, and still take that on, love you, and die for you? Would you do that for anyone else?

Jesus came back from the grave

Death could not hold the creator of the universe. It has no power against God. He defeated death. Not in the physical sense (you’ll obviously still die) but in the eternal sense. Perfection in heaven with Jesus if you believe, or an eternity of suffering with no hope without him.

I hope this journey got you somewhere. We encourage you to read all of Romans while you’re here, and we hope we’ve made you think. If you want to talk about Jesus some more in person, please reach out. Someone is always happy to talk about anything you’re questioning over the phone, text, or in a coffee shop. Maybe you’re not ready to talk to someone. We suggest you dive into the Bible. Don’t take our word for it. Read it yourself!
